Burntstick Lake Resort

Get off grid & unplug!

This Is Our Story

Burntstick Lake Resort is a private lakeside camping resort offering an off-grid camping experience. With over 60 yearly site rentals, as well as weekend getaways at the geodomes, it's the the perfect place to unplug and relax.

Nestled along Burntstick Lake & tucked away on Crown land in the central Alberta foothills, we have been family owned & operated for over 25 years.

We've created a genuine, rustic campground with its own micro-community vibe, where we focus on the power of disconnecting to reconnect. Get out into nature with your favourite people, turn off the devices (there's barely service anyway), and step into the adventure of being off the grid and on the land.

What Makes Us Special

Fully Off The Grid

With limited cell reception, no power and no running water, you can fully unplug and leave the demands and performance of everyday life in the city. Take in the breathtaking views, the smell of campfire, and the mesmerizing milky way.

You'll be surrounded by beautiful boreal forest, with distant mountain views on the lake & you won't have to worry about the ping of endless notifications, the 47 loads of laundry or getting stuck in traffic jams. Well, unless you bump into some of the area's wildlife, free roam cattle, or wild horses...

Private Lakeside Luxury

There is a little bit of everything at BLR, boating, fishing, kayaking, waterskiing, swimming, canoeing, hiking, picnicking & sunbathing; we've got it all. BLR has the only waterfront access, boat launch & beach area on the South side of the ~4.5km lake.

There are also endless day trips you can take within the area; check out some of the central Alberta museums & historic sites, enjoy the biggest ice cream in the West, or hit up one of the local markets or rodeos. Once you're done exploring with the family, kick up your feet, relax by the fire & roast some marshmallows.

Hidden Gem Destination

A secluded haven tucked away on Crown land and boasting the distinction of being the sole development on the South side of the lake. In our quest for tranquility, we've chosen not to display any signage on the main road, resulting in minimal public traffic. Accessing our resort is an exclusive insider experience, only for those 'in the know.'

When you venture off the beaten path and discover our well-kept secret, you'll unlock a world of unspoiled natural beauty and serenity. Immerse yourself in the untouched wilderness, revel in the privacy afforded by our location, and indulge in a truly secluded escape.

Testimonials

"We have [had a site] out there for 13-14 years now and we love it. Relaxing by a fire or just walking around to visit other sites,  making friends. It’s a great place for our girls to grow up going to. It's an amazing group of people that come together to help out if something goes wrong... It’s very neighbourly. [We] hope to enjoy it for many more years to come."

"Both my husband and I would agree that we were welcomed and right away made new, life long friends. The atmosphere for our two growing boys has been absolutely amazing. We know that we can trust our neighbours to lend a hand or help out, & vice versa.

It offers a close to home escape that can’t be beat. BLR has become a home away from home where we can unwind and the kids can take the boat out to go fishing or take the quads out to see the [wild] horses.

I would also add that the fact that it’s year-round is very special as we have such a fantastic time at New Year’s, and throughout the winter."

The Geodome, location so close to Burntstick Lake, & hospitality was amazing! What a beautiful location & experience. It was exactly what we needed & [we] will definitely be returning. Thank you so much Warren & Kelsey for creating & hosting this incredible space!✨
